Name of The Competition: BUCA IMSEF (Buca International Music Science Energy Engineering Fair)

Aim of The Competition: Organized by Buca Municipality Buca Science and Art Center, BUCA IMSEF aims to teach the language of science at a young age, to bring together young people from the same age group around the world, to make scientific and cultural exchanges, to discover the talents of children with different art branches and to reveal their talents so aims to make them grow as ‘Scientists and Artists of the Future’.

Content of the competition: Students of High School and their equivalents.

Participation Fee: 500€ per person (including accommodation, local transports, foods and trips)

  1. Physics
  2. Chemistry
  3. Biology
  4. Energy – Engineering  
  5. Mathematics– Computer
  6. Music-Piano

Terms of the Applications for For Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Energy-Engineering, Mathematics-Computer Categories:

  1. Students of high schools, grades 9 through 12 and their equivalents can participate in the competition.
  2. Research projects will be in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Energy -Engineering and Mathematics– Computer fields. 
  3. A student, or group of students, may not exhibit more than one project a year. Projects can be prepared by one student or a group (max 3 students) and a teacher.
  4. Project reports should include the aim of the study, introduction, material and methods, conclusions, discussion, references and acknowledgment. Report should be written in compliance with the rules specified on our website and they should exceed 250 words.
  5. All the participants’ projects should be appropriate for the field that they are competing. Projects must be done using scientific methods.
  6. All projects must comply with the ethical rules.
  7. Jury evaluation will be done by presenting the projects to the jury. Project presentations must be in English.
  8. Projects will be evaluated by the academic members of the university. Judges may change the branch of the project based on the content. 
  9. Evaluation of projects will be based on creativity and originality, literature, scientific thinking, scientific method, data management, results, application, skills and research efforts. There will be no appealing against the results of the assessments. 
  10. Project applications should be made online. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications must be done by 16.10.2023, the latest.
  11. Projects that are worth exhibiting will be announced on the website. Project owners will be notified by e-mail. 
  12. The project competition will be held face to face in Izmir-Buca between 20-25 November 2023. Project presentations should not exceed 10 minutes. It is recommended to prepare .ppt presentations.
  13. It is advised for the projects owners to apply for the patent before they are exhibited if the projects have commercial value. 
  14. In the competition, first, second, third and encouragement awards will be given in each category. The projects in the top three are entitled to receive a gold, silver, bronze medal and certificate of achievement, respectively, and the projects in the fourth place receive a certificate of achievement as an encouragement award.
  15. All students and supervisors participating in the competition will be given a certificate of participation. 
  16. Projects will be eliminated if they are not appropriate to the terms of the competitions and the rules of organization committee. All the project owners are obliged to act in accordance with Ministry of Education regulations.

BUCA IMSEF Music-Piano Category Competition Terms & Conditions

General rules:

  1. The competition can be attended by high school and equivalent school students.
  2. Full-time students attending the competition in official-private conservatories cannot participate in the competition.
  3. Applications for the competition are individual. The finalist can be accompanied by an adult.
  4. Pre-registrations will be made on www.bucaimsef.org website by filling in the application form and uploading 3-minute video in mp4 format. The video to be uploaded must have a resolution of 480p and a maximum size of 100 MB.
  5. All participants are required to indicate the schedule and duration of the works on the application form. The pre-selection will be done through video and the works used in the recording can also be performed in the competition. The competitor is free to choose the video work to be sent.
  6. The participant has to submit only one video.
  7. The works to be played in the competition must be memorized.
  8. Facilitated and shortened Works shall not be taken into account.
  9. A part of a classical period piece, a piece belonging to the romantic period and a piece from any slow period determined by the contestant, a total of 3 works will be played in front of the jury.
  10. The total time of works to be played in the competition should not exceed 15 minutes.
  11. In the piano competition, first, second, third and encouragement award will be given. The finalists in the top three are entitled to receive a gold, silver, bronze medal and certificate of achievement, respectively, and in the fourth place receive a certificate of achievement as an encouragement award.
  12. All students and supervisors participating in the competition will be given a certificate of participation. 
  13. BUCA IMSEF organizing committee will record video and audio in all categories. The use of the records and the right of ownership are reserved. Participants cannot claim any fees and rights on these records.
  14. No one can record audio and video except with the permission of the organizing committee.
  15. The decision of the jury is essential. There is no right to object to the evaluation results.
  16. Competitors must comply with the warnings given by the officials during the event.
  17. The participants who disrupt the general competition and disrupt the competition program will be disqualified.
  18. BUCA IMSEF organizing committee has the right to make changes in the rules.
