Local administration culture has been well based at Buca. As a sign of it, first municipal organization has been founded in 1898. Buca has been administered officially by municipality since the foundation of the republic of Turkey. It was detached from the district of Konak on July 4, 1987 and its status was changed from sub-district to district by the law no. 3392.
Arts and science studies have been produced at Buca, being a district with a literacy rate of 99%. International Music, Science and Engineering Fair to be held in Buca is intended to increase the level of education of Buca as well as its educational institutions at every level. It is planned both to enlarge the vision of the young people in Buca and to reveal the minds to represent Buca with the studies conducted at international level.
